The Velvet Underground have to be one of the most influential bands of all time. Without them it would have been hard for any kind of underground/alternative sub-culture to even exist, let alone flourish. Championed by the likes of David Bowie, cited by the Jesus and Mary Chain, their music more than stands the test of time, it leaves a legacy that will continue to prevail far in to the future.
And so the legacy continues… London neo-goth rockers Terminal Gods have just joined new label Palm Zone records for it’s debut release, ‘Palm Zone – session 1’ a four-track tribute to the Velvet Underground featuring The Gods, Bonfire Nights and Sense Seduction. They’ve recorded a version of the classic ‘White Light/White Heat’ – slightly toned down from the full on no holds bar heavyweight version we witnessed at their live gigs, they’ve based this version around the blueprint put down by Bowie on his Glass Spider tour. Stark slightly threatening solo vocals meet with a mob handed all in it together chorus. The track’s been released with another fine video from the bands dedicated Andrew Oxley…
The EP should be available towards the end of September/early October – keep your eyes on their website for more details.
