Dark-Pop solo artist Nire Bird shares dark, mysterious, sultry visuals for her haunting new single ‘Yes Please’. We’re excited to be running the premiere!
Pleasingly experimental with a sense of chaotic musical freedom, ‘Yes Please’ incorporates varying electronic textures into it’s rich musical tapestry with punching beats under the fuzzy sub bass and twinkling synths. Nire’s silky, breathy lead vocals float above the electronics with a dreamlike haze, dappled with crunching distortion, wide delays and reverbs and moments of pitch shifted processing.
Incorporating an element of horror into both her sonic pallet and the accompanying visual which gives the track a striking edge, a sharp sting to contrast the more airy, atmospheric elements of the tracks soundscape.
Taken form the new album ‘Beach Noir’, her new 10 track album, the tracks gives a flavour of the kind of dark, alternative electronic-pop soundscapes you can expect to find across the long listen.
Speaking about the album, Nire says: ”I like to intrigue and draw people into my world. Revealing secrets as I go like a shell unfurling. I created Beach Noir as my own escape and refuge to claw back my identity after motherhood. A desire to explore the meaning of emotional stories and the dichotomies of life and identity. Now I release it as my reminder of the wild side always lurking just beneath the surface and that sometimes the real story begins when the fairy tale ends. These first songs are those chapters.”
“Creating this album was a cathartic shift, a clawing back of my identity which had become lost to the black hole of society called middle class mothers in the hood of west London …where your just not expected to do anything so unusual at this ‘age’, not meant to put yourself out there to generate a new career. Musically it became a culmination of the more contemporary and experimental music I studied at Art school and popular music I loved over the years. Reflections on the beauty and angst of all my choices so far came through. Beach Noir is my reminder of the wild side always lurking just beneath the surface and that sometimes the real story begins when the fairy tale ends. These first songs are those chapters.”
