Fontaines DC released their universally praised debut album ‘Dogrel’ last year – for me one of the best releases of 2019 – and have sold out at increasingly larger venues across the world, culminating at a sold-out headline gig at London’s O2 Brixton Academy in February 2020. It’s no exaggeration there is a buzz about this band, and it is well deserved.
They have just released a new video for Liberty Belle as a celebration of a fantastic year for the band. Of the track, singer Grain Chatten says:
Liberty Belle is a lament to the death of old Dublin, written by people who couldn’t afford the new one.
Certainly an universal theme. The video combines documentary footage from their various sold-out dates across the year and live visuals from their recent sold out shows at Vicar Street in Dublin. And it also represents the best of the band: punk attitude and veracity, rock’roll poetry.
If you haven’t listened to ‘Dogrel’, you can address this serious omission here. The future of rock’n’roll remains safe.
