Track: Ty Segall – Orange Color Queen

Ty Segall, the always busy and always creating DIY California singer/songwriter is readying a new self-titled for release on January 27th of next year. Segall assembled a band consisting of usual pals in Mikal Cronin and Charles Moothart, along with Emmett Kelly and Ben Boye and hit the studio with full band in tact for this new LP which follows this year’s Emotional Mugger, as well as an epic list of incredible albums that include Manipulator, Sleeper, Twins, Goodbye Bread, Lemons, and about 50 other albums I haven’t even mentioned. According to Drag City:

Ty Segall keeps you guessing, bracing your skin with a welcome astringency, seeking to stem the bleeding with chunks and splashes of guitar, tight beats, audio-verite toilet smashes, a Wurlitzer electric piano in a jam, blazing harmonies, and LOTS of songs to sing. There’s no concept beyond that; finding the right places to be is a momentary thing. Ty Segall is the sum of his songs – and about getting the free. The free to be!

In lieu of the release in early 2017 Segall has unleashed the acoustic beauty “Orange Color Queen”, a Beatles-esque strummer that would’ve fit nicely on the White Album. As usual, it’s got a gritty feel with the warmth of some long lost 70s tune. Rarely does Segall disappoint, and “Orange Color Queen” keeps that vibe going.

Ty Segall is out January 27, 2017 via Drag City Records. Check out “Orange Color Queen” below, as well as a list of tour dates.
