Nottingham newcomers Victory Lap have announced their debut single ‘Jealousy’.
Speaking ahead of their single release, frontman Tomas Ponting stated:
“Jealousy is a song written from the perspective of a man who is astray in love. The lyrical content depicts him desperately trying to contextualise and rationalise the unsettling grounds, on which he is romantically engaged. Desperate in the pursuit of love, he will turn on his own ideals to carry the torch he has lit”
A cinematic croon from Ponting who sounds very much like a modern Edwyn Collins, in fact the track would not look out of place in Edwyn Collins’ album. Cleverly arranged guitar parts do much to colour the track with bites of distortion and wandering bass lines as the track ticks over at a steady relaxing speed. So sit back relax and let the music soothe you. This may be the start of a new obsession.
