It hardly seems seven years since Tracey Thorn’s last album, her festive collection of songs ‘Tinsel & Lights’. But that’s probably because I dig it out every year, each time a different track becoming my new favourite. In the time between we have seen her collaborate with the likes of Jens Lekman and John Grant, as well as releasing her greatest solo hits album, and creating the soundtrack to Carol Morley’s 2015 movie ‘The Falling’. But that’s not to say she hasn’t been missed, and on the 2nd of March, her brand new album will be released. The first track to be released from the album is is ‘Queen’ and takes her back to the electronic sound of ‘Out of the Woods’ and 90s EBTG albums ‘Temperamental’ and ‘Walking Wounded’. ‘Queen’ is an uptempo electronic track, reaffirming Thorn’s place as the queen of disco. It’s been too long Tracey. Roll on March.
