UK alt-rockers The Vigil have just released their thumping new track ‘Above The Stone’. The track is taken from their sophomore album ‘Hypervigilance’ that is set for release on the 21st August via Fever Dog Records.
Olly (vocals & guitar) explains the meaning behind the track: “Above the Stone is a song about regret and longing, then finding redemption and empowerment in something. Being able to move on from the dead weight holding you back in life.”.
Apart from being jealous of Olly’s green Gibson this record filled me with nostalgia for those early 90s when Seattle was the music capital. Built on a driving riff and featuring some excellent drumming this comes straight out of the grunge textbook. The bridge sets up the stomping chorus perfectly for a bit of mosh pit craziness. This track will be a great crowd pleaser.
