Breezy, emotive and bringing some gorgeous retro 80’s synth vibes, The Golden Hour returns with the ever vibrant new single ‘Postcard Summer’. The brainchild of Matteo Zandonella Bolco, The Golden Hour’s sound puts a modern, contemporary twist on retro synth-pop to create a sound which is fresh yet warningly nostalgic.
From the punching 808 beats to the sparkling, dreamy synth lines and the pulsing bass, ‘Postcard Summer’ builds an atmospheric yet punchy soundscape which would fit well among the ‘Drive’ or even the ‘Stranger Things’ soundtrack. Topped with Matteo’s honest and retrospective lead vocals, the tracks emotional elements are brought to the fore, emphasising some of the melancholic note selection among the wash of overlapping analogue synth lines.
Discussing the track, The Golden Hour shares:
“Kids often lose certainties as they grow up, such as who they want to be or what their dream job would’ve been. This song makes you feel like there are moments worth sighing for, even though life comes with its fair share of problems, the nostalgia infused single acts like a giant snooze button.”
