Long standing Brooklyn indie trio The Essex Green have broken their long hiatus – taken to (according to the band at least) build houseboats, lead fermentation effort in Vermont and study elk rutting, and have reconvened over the last 2-3 years in various locations to record new album Hardly Electronic. It’s out on June 29th on Merge Records and from it the band have shared the albums opener ‘Sloane Ranger’.
Fiercely melodic and uplifting, Sloane Ranger is the kind of organ infused, baroque indie pop that is virtually impossible not to fall head over heels with. Splashes of brass and large helpings of vocal harmonies allow you to drift off into some kind warm, safe, comfortable place.
