With a genetic make up that has hints of The Sundays and The Cranberries as well as an antipodean bloodline stretching back to bands like Even As We Speak, The Killjoys and The Clouds, Sydney band Jet City Sports Club have released the sparkling ‘She Don’t Need One’. It’s jingle jangle guitars aplenty with with a gorgeous shimmer as the singer’s voice glides with a velvet softness, filled with a heartbreakingly beautiful sense of yearning.
The band says of the track:
‘She Don’t Need No One’ is a summer anthem about independence, self-assurance and love. It is a laid back, airy indie song with a melancholic reflection of a personal relationship. It features one the bands now signature catchy choruses, which is an easy singalong from the first listen.
The result is something quite special: a song that spills sunshine and radiance with a darker edge.
‘She Don’t Need No One’ is out today and can be streamed here and you can catch the band live in Sydney at the Chippo Hotel on 5 March – tickets here.
