Out on February 16th on the ever brilliant Merge Records, What a time to be alive is the new album from legendary alt rockers Superchunk. It features a host of guest backing vocalists including Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog, Sweet Spirit), Skylar Gudasz, and David Bazan “Part of that was wanting a feeling of community,” says Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan. “I think that’s important to not be completely bummed out about everything all the time.”
The band have just released second single Erasure, which features Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields) and it’s typical Superchunk – part-gritty, part-loveable, packed full of power chords, trashy drums, big riffs and instantly memorable melodies. It’s top notch stuff – check it out, here
What a Time to Be Alive is available for pre-order now on pink-in-clear Peak Vinyl, LP, and CD in the Merge store or through participating independent record stores, as well as digitally.
