‘Hail Haze’ from Holy Ship is a thoroughly satisfying barrage of wild and scything guitars that wail in the ether above pounding rhythms and distant dissociated, louche vocals. A vibrant, visceral synth underlay provides a delicious wash along with vocal layers that dance at the edge of the sound.
The shoegaze rush is highlighted by a psych-infused chemically induced fugue that combine to create something quite euphoric and celestial with a dream pop melody.
This is cathartic and joyous stuff:
The track is available to download and stream here and comes from upcoming EP ‘Sun Macabre’ and is out on 14 September on iconic US label Declared Goods.
Holy Ships is essentially the solo work of Jonatan Westh after his shoegaze band Blackstrap (V2, Tee Pee Records) had disintegrated after a decade.
