‘The Last Exit’ from UK duo Still Corners, released earlier this year (reviewed by me here), was a magnificent and evocative collection of glittering and sparkling songs filled with magic and mystery. Still Corners are back with a new single – ‘Heavy Days’ – and an announcement of a comprehensive tour of the EU and the US.

‘Heavy Days’ has the trademark sense of haunting mysticism that Still Corners manage to capture so deliciously. The track has a heavier crunchy vibe and a restless pace that is burnished brightly by a syncopated synth, reverb-soaked guitar and singer Tess Murray’s crooning, louche vocals: melancholy and distant, contrasted by the effervescent instrumentation.

The song is about reconnection when times are grim – as Murray says:

As a phone and news addicted person, I wanted to write something as a note and reminder to myself that the unlived life is not worth examining and to get out there as much as possible.  This song is just that, a rocking message to live your life to the fullest while you can.

There is a sense of resilience and optimism amongst the grim reality of life:

‘Heavy Days’ is available to download and stream here and through the link below:
