With his new album The Harmony Codex due at the end of the month on Virgin, Steven Wilson has released a sighter of whats to come from the album in the shape of a single, Economies of Scale.
Wilson worked alone on the album in a studio tucked inside the garage of a North London townhouse, calling in favours from a collection of musicians – including long time studio partners such as Ninet Tayeb, Craig Blundell and Adam Holzman and a veritable feast of new collaborators including Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto and Interpol’s Sam Fogarino.
The single is a beautiful, bubbling slice of off kilter electronica, the sprawling percussion adding a little forward motion to this dreamy melody, sugared with harmonies and melancholy in equal measure. It’s brilliant stuff. Check it out, here
