Nice Swan Records announce the signing of splint, who join Sprints, English Teacher, Courting and Opus Kink, as part of the Nice Swan Introduces…. debut single series. The Manchester-based five-piece have released ‘Military Procedures‘ after a year of attempting to fly under the radar with an intermittent run of intense appearances and no social media activity. That is all now changing with Jake Bogacki (vocals/guitar), Giulia Bonometti (vocals/bass), George Davies (guitar), Ellie Rose-Elliot (drums) and Henry Carlyle (guitars) now ready to release splint into the world.
‘Military Procedures‘ sees splint confirm just what all the rumblings are about. Scuzzy guitars open this track and at five minutes it’s given the time and space to build in intensity. The drums in the first half of the track reinforces the reference to military with its beats. However lyrically this track is about the pressures of adolescence and the attempt by the educational establishment to pigeonhole you so young.
As Bogacki further explains:
“’Military Procedures’ is in essence a song about the confusion of adolescence and the acceptance of your own failings, each of which lead you to the circumstances you find yourself in. Five years was always the given quota by education establishments to judge where and what you will be after you’d finished, to create a sense of urgency to be something. What’s the end goal of all that?”
