Under the moniker LXP, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Alex Parry, straight out of Brockley, South East London, has just released an immersive piece of electronica entitled ‘Concede’. It is the first taste of his forthcoming EP ‘Power Ballads Volume 1’ and is a sign of exciting things to come.
‘Concede’ has a motorik beat, a dynamic airy thrum with a glitchy air and is held together by the gossamer thread of Parry’s vocals, which morph from sweet to sonic dynamite. The end result is something that sounds like a mix of later period Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, but utterly unique. It’s dynamic and immersive stuff, with haunting sounds in the ether.
It’s accompanied by a video directed by Cormac O’Connell with fitting melange of electronic visuals that provides a buzz to the system like a defibrillator:

Parry has been spinning around the big city’s indie circus for some time now sprinkling jazz-piano tones to Tenderhost’s early outings and synth/key colours in rising arch-popster Ellie Bleach’s band. Away from that band-life the focus has been on the LXP persona, crafting ‘Power Ballads Vol.1’ with co-producer and Goldsmiths buddy, Seth Evans (of Black Midi and HMLTD connections).
