Sofia Kourtesis recently gave us more details on the release of her debut album. It’s called Madres, and is out on the utterly brilliant Ninja Tune imprint on October 27th, and is proceeded by a new single Vajkoczy, which is out now.
Off the track, which is named after the renowned neurosurgeon Peter Vajkoczy, Kourtesis explains that he is “My muse, my hero, the world should have more Vajkoczy.” He was the man who saved Kourtesis’ mother, and also her own, bringing joy and hope back into it.
Vajkoczy sparkles with these glittering electronics, but there’s a space and time about it also, the vocal lines little gems of melody that interject with this deep house backing and shards of synth tune that scale the upper echelons of the sound. It’s cool yet a little bundle of joy and it’s rather beautiful. Check it out, here
