Track: Sister Envy Share Brilliant New Single ‘Swallowed By The Ground’

Rising alternative-psychedelic rock quartet Sister Envy release the instantly lovable third single ‘Swallowed By The Ground’. Bringing together elements of shoegaze and indie with a brit-pop edge, the track is a vibrant example of how the band can deliver tracks which are at once immediate and musically intricate.

Built around the dual interlocking guitars, tight drums and driving bass, the track captures a striking sense of drive and energy under frontman Kameron Jolliffe’s engaging and effortlessly melodic lead vocal. Delivering introspective and relatable lyricism that chart the disintegration of a relationship, the song erupts into an unforgettable chorus, channeling the epic gaze sound of early Verve with a undertone of Smashing Pumpkins.

Creative through its use of drones, and intricate splashes of strings, echo and swells of synthesis, the track perfectly balances its commercial elements with a grounding alternative instrumental backdrop that allows the band to deliver a radio ready track with more than enough alternative flair to keep it from being considered mainstream.

Speaking about the track, Kameron Jolliffe shares: “I had the main riff lying around for a while and didn’t really touch it, though I really liked it. We started jamming it in rehearsal, and the song pretty much wrote itself. It quickly became one of our favourite songs to play together.”

Hailing from the North Wales coast, a place of mystery, harsh beauty, and raw energy, Sister Envy formed at college and have since been refining their sound both on stage and in the studio. ‘Swallowed By The Ground’ was recorded in Liverpool at the iconic Motor Museum Studio with Ben Harper, mixed in France by Welsh legend Owain Ginsberg, and mastered in Austin, Texas by acclaimed producer Erik Wofford (The Black Angels). Throughout 2025, Sister Envy will continue to unfold their sonic world with a series of releases and live shows, building on the acclaim they have already amassed.
