Track: Singer-Songwriter Carla Aakre Shares Warming New Single ‘through’

Helsinki-based singer-songwriter Carla Aakre shares the warming melancholic sweller ‘through’.

A warming organic pallet of piano, subtle strings, tight drums and melancholic vocals, the single is a beautifully restrained and intimate soundscape. Simplistic yet affective, the track is wonderfully raw and wintery, comparable to the likes of Laura Marling and Katy J Pearson.

Recorded between Aakre’s Helsinki studio flat and her family’s cottage in southern Finland, the track is imbued with the charm of these personal spaces. Collaborating with producer and mixer Roni Ylhäinen, Aakre embraced an analog ethos, capturing the track’s raw authenticity with an 8-track multitracker. Complementing Aakre’s delicate vocals and acoustic textures, her sister, Milla Käyhty, contributed intricate string and horn arrangements that elevate the song’s emotional landscape.

Taken from the forthcoming album, Things I Forgot to Tell You, the track gives a taste of the imaginative lyricism and indie folk arrangements which can be expected on the full release.
