Nottingham’s Panchiko team up with New York rap legend billy woods on “Shandy in the Graveyard,” a laid-back yet immersive track that blends psych-pop melodies, glitchy trip-hop beats, and swirling electronics. woods’ unmistakable flow adds depth, sketching a bittersweet love story: “She left a necklace and never retrieved it… shards in shoeboxes still sharp”, he notes.
The track is a perfect example of Panchiko’s knack for balancing nostalgia with fresh ideas. After their wild rediscovery in 2020 (thanks to a charity shop demo CD and 4chan), the band has gone from obscurity to selling out increasingly large venues, both here and in America. Now, with Ginkgo (out April 4), they’re crafting some of their most cinematic, introspective work yet.
“Shandy in the Graveyard” is a swirling, genre-melting gem—proof that Panchiko’s second act is every bit as exciting as their unlikely comeback.
