Inspired by a trip to his grandparent’s birthplace of the Aeolian Islands off Sicily, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever guitarist Tom Russo describes their new single, Mainland’s genesis as “I was reading about a refugee crisis unfolding not far away in the Mediterranean Sea. The song is about longing, disillusionment, privilege and holding on to love as a kind of shield.” Its the first taste of new music from the Melbourne five-piece since their much admired EP The French Press, and is this summertime feelgood slice of indie pop. Its gently pulsating but has that insatiable melodic attraction about it, that brings you back time and again.
