Texan shoegaze pioneers Ringo Deathstarr return with their first new studio album in 5 years. Self titled “Ringo Deathstarr” drops 27th March via Club AC30
First glimpse of what they have created comes in the form of the Lush-esque single “God Help The Ones You love” Its a heavy bass led groove that’s almost gothic in places and catchy as hell. Especially when on the chorus with its fuzzy guitars. Alex Gehring’s voice is a angelic soothing balm to the razor jagged drum beat.
Its a taste of what to expect. Talking about the album Elliot Frazer explained “Because this new record was started after I became a father, and I had no idea what it would be like, I was a stay at home dad during the day and working at night! Gone were the days of fiddling about for hours with melodies and it took longer personally.”
There’s a feel to “God Help The Ones You Love” that the band have took longer with the writing and recording. You can hear a more mature thought out sound of a band on their 6th full album who have gone through life’s many changes.
