After meeting 15 years ago, as one managed and the other produced a funk reggae band, Rebel ACA (the ACA being Anti-Clockwise Attitude) and French Monkey Wrench (him being a) french and b) an inspired fixer of things, sometimes with the aforementioned Wrench) have been the ying to the others yang, and they’ve finally come together to make an album, a delectable pairing of French deep vintage sound with the English articulation of the Rebel.
From the album is John Wayne – all lush, vaguely funky backgrounds that switch and morph, while over the top Rebel ACA pulls out all his keen observations of modern life, (as well as passing mention of the Duke, clearly) rhyming with flow and wit, with some more soulful vocals draped over the chorus.
