Building up to the release of her album ‘IRIS’ through Flying Nun Records on 1 October 2021, Reb Fountain has just released the achingly beautiful track ‘Foxbright’, the fourth single from the album. This is a more reflective and restrained Fountain, but just as powerful and mesmerising. ‘Foxbright’ has a delicate, fragility and celestial melodies that coast above the gently picked acoustic guitar and droplets of piano.
Fountain’s voice is extraordinary: soft and expressive with more range than the Southern Alps. Fountain says of the track and the accompanying video( directed and edited by Lola Fountain-Best):
The burrow is the place we run to when in headlights, when faced with the impossible in ourselves and in the world. The mosque lamp is where I leave my love for you should I be hiding. Foxbright is who we are in the face of it all. Of all the songs off of IRIS Foxbright tells the story I most want to share with you right now. Fittingly Lola and I made the music video for Foxbright in my burrow – my home – and with the help of a 16mm projector mapped industry on body.
