We already know that Quantic is back, with a new album, and ahead of the album release on 12th June is a 12″ bundle of remixes for the title track “Atlantic Oscillations” –
The 12″ also includes a shorter radio edit, a remix from Maghreban taking the track into a 90s rave direction, and possibly the highlight – a disco dub from Quantic himself. Sounding like a reggae soundsystem has snuck into an upscale New York jazz club, it creates jagged edges around the original’s disco climax. Somehow crashing dub distortion into the strings, and over the piano, it sounds like the track is coming in from either a lost 1970s radio broadcast, or outer space, or maybe both.
“I think that the Quantic sound has always been around making electronic music more natural”, says Will (Quantic) Holland. And this is a great example.
Atlantic Oscillations (the 12″) is out now on Tru Thoughts.
Atlantic Oscillations (the album) is also out on Tru Thoughts label, on June 21st.
