Prefuse 73, aka prolific beat-maker/producer Guillermo S. Herren has announced that his first solo album in three years, Sacrifices, will be out on May 25th via Lex Records. It’s a 17 track opus, through which Herron expresses his increasing interest in making space within his complex compositions.
The track is both of the things Herron has been looking to achieve – it’s complicated, with intricate lines of percussion and electronics weaving in and out of eachother of this slow moving chord sequence, with the space created not just by gaps (although there are some) but repetition and allowing the listener to fall into something that quickly becomes familiar before changing it.
Beguiling stuff. Check it out, here
