We’ve long been fans of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs here at Backseat Mafia. The Newcastle behemoths seems to be winning the world over, one huge riff at a time, and preparing for the release of their new live album, Live In New York, is out on October 27th on Missing Piece Records.
Showcasing the bands almost legendary live shows from an April show in New York’s Mercury Lounge, which followed their brilliant Land Of Sleeper album. From that album, the band have released the live version of Big Rig. As with much of the bands material, is marries heavy and punk music together with a dose of the experimental, with furious passages alternating with slow sections all married together with these epic, thuggish riffs that remain a constant throughout.
Drummer Ewan Mackenzie says of the track, “‘Big Rig’ is such a joy to play, like a journey in itself, with big changes, breakdowns and tangents: you feel like you’re hanging on for dear life as the song sweeps you into another mind-bending section.”
