Track: Panda Bear releases another slice of forthcoming album, in the shape of the rather lovely ‘Ferry Lady’

Panda Bear’s “Ferry Lady” is a masterclass in genre-blending, nodding towards trip-hop and reggae – the repetitive, insists t bass could have been transported from just about any dub record of the last half century, while staying rooted in the psychedelic pop brilliance admirers have come to expect. The second single from his upcoming album Sinister Grift (out February 28 via Domino), the track brims with lush swathes of guitar, a healthy dose brass, and an electronic hue that casts an atmospheric glow over the whole thing.

But the standout here is the killer chorus—a soaring, sticky moment that ties the track’s kaleidoscopic elements together. With its layered textures and breezy yet intricate production, “Ferry Lady” reaffirms that Panda Bear is on top form, delivering a warm, immediate sound that feels both fresh and unmistakably his own.
