This is EXACTLY what is need to blast away any January blues. Canada’s NOBRO have released new single ‘Bye Bye Baby‘ which is taken from their forthcoming EP Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar scheduled for release on 23 February 2022 via Big Scary Monsters. Goodness this is glorious garage rock with a twist of punk. Full throttle from the get-go. The track was written by guitarist Karolane Carbonneau whilst going through the worst break-up of her life:
“When I wrote that song, I was having the worst breakup of my life. Kathryn, the lead singer of our band, said to me ‘you should take advantage of your sadness to write a freaking badass song.’ I’ve always wanted to sing lead vocals on a song, but I never got the guts to do it. Props to Kathryn for the support and forcing me to do it! And please, do yourself a favour and never let anyone bring you down. Always believe in yourself.”
Cathartic is an understatement, ‘Bye Bye Baby‘ is blasted out with a ferocity that takes no prisoners. The empowering force of music is so clear here and the energy is simply phenomenal. Two and a half minutes of earth-shattering guitar riffs, pounding drums and screaming vocals which live must be wild.
Karolane is joined in NOBRO by vocalist and bassist Kathryn McCaughey, drummer Sarah Dion, and percussionist Lisandre Bourdages.
“I wanted to play this type of music but there wasn’t a lot of women who wanted to play it. I wanted to be in the most kick-ass all female band ever,” states Kathryn and with inspiration coming from the likes of Jay Reatard, The Damned and Royal Trux they are well on their way to achieving this goal.

NOBRO’s new EP was mixed by two-time Grammy Award winning engineer Dave Schiffman (Adele, Charli XCX, Vampire Weekend, HAIM, System Of A Down) which confirms the talent in this band. It will follow their 2020 debut EP Sick Hustle.
