Hard rocking band No Setting Sun have just released a cover version of the Beatles’ ‘Come Together’.
No Setting Sun are based in Derby and are inspired by bands such as Alter Bridge, Soundgarden, Velvet Revolver and The Wildhearts. They are currently working on their debut EP ‘Unearthed’ which will be released later this year.
The band decided to do a cover version of a song for the EP and after considering a number of classics, they settled on ‘Come Together’.
The original song opened the ‘Abbey Road’ album and although attributed to Lennon and McCartney, it was written by John Lennon.
No Setting Sun join a host of artists including Ike and Tina Turner, Aerosmith, Meat Loaf and bizarrely even Michael Jackson who have covered ‘Come Together’.
The No Setting Sun version rocks. Hard. From the ominously paced start, the song builds momentum, with the Southern-blues slide guitar a nice touch which is used to great effect. The crunchy guitars power the song on until eventually it culminates in an explosive full-on aural assault. It is a great version that now joins the pantheon of covers of this classic song.
