Track: Nicki Wells Returns With Earthy, Etherial Beauty ‘The Night’

As comparable to Radiohead as it is to Lucy Rose and even Roy Harper and Jeff Beck, Nicki Wells latest single ‘The Night’ balances beautiful with haunting chorus progressions and her breathy, effortlessly captivating lead vocal to stunning effect.

Possessing a lullaby-like quality, Nicki’s vocal acts like a guiding light through the murky darkness of the alt-folk instrumentation as fingerpicked guitars drift above a subtle bed of strings. As the track reaches the chorus, the melodies move in an almost bond-theme-esque manor, resulting a cinematic and emotionally impactful soundscape over the gently swaying musical backdrop.

Earthy and delicate the track is a fine addition to Wells’ already stunning catalogue of melancholic, entrancing and often poetic songwriting.

Speaking about the track, Nicki explains: “The Night is a lullaby of reassurance to fall into mystery. To surrender into our own imagination, the world of the unconscious. The dream world.”
