Steve Balbi, the ever-evolving artist, composer, and producer, has just released his latest single ‘Marrow’, now available on all streaming platforms via Triplespeak & MGM Distribution. This track is the final sneak peek before the release of his fourth solo album, ‘Breakdown’ which is set to drop on Friday, August 23.
‘Marrow’ is a masterclass in blending melody, sophistication, and soul. Balbi channels the spirit of Bowie and Lennon while weaving in the complex, gritty grooves of Radiohead. The result? A track that’s both haunting and heavenly, full of evocative, melancholic undertones that are also surprisingly intoxicating. The seamless mix of strings and synths adds a touch of empathy, creating a deeply romantic soundscape.
Balbi didn’t just produce ‘Marrow’ – he played every instrument on the track, except for the drums, which were masterfully handled by Tully Ryan. The song was expertly mixed by Tony Wall and mastered by William Bowden.
Reflecting on the song, Balbi says, “Have you ever messed up so bad there’s no doubt about it and you can see defeat, hands in the air, hit me, punish me, in fact I’ll eat myself. You know that feeling. Is it a happy song – it kind of is. There’s freedom in accepting your own f*ck ups.”
To celebrate the release of ‘Breakdown’, Balbi will be performing at the renowned Sydney Opera House on Saturday, August 24. This special event promises to be a transcendent experience, featuring an all-star band and special guest Abby Doson, founding member of Leonardo’s Bride and part of the magnifique duo Baby et Lulu.
