Signed to the illustrious Flying Nun Records label, New Zealand punk popsters DARTZ have flung a well aimed missile at the plethora of sleazy property developers and the ultra rich infesting New Zealand’s beaches with their sprightly new single ‘Paradise’. With a joyous, raucous shouty delivery, a few choice words and a whole baggage of attitude and cheek, this is a jolly fun rampage with a serious message.
According to DARTZ vocalist Danz, with ‘Paradise’, the band was inspired to make a summer anthem that reflected on the differences between groups of beachgoers:
…we were driving through Mt Maunganui one day before a show, and out of nowhere Rollyz just said out loud ‘damn it’s a good place to be blonde’. That phrase stuck with us and the song just came naturally from there.
The accompanying video sees the band representing the illustrious Paradise Realty romping around with abandon. Any similarities to red-capped well fed US politicians is, I’m sure, coincidental.
The track is off DARTZ’s new album ‘Dangerous Day To Be A Cold One’ which will be released on Friday 1 March 2024 through Flying Nun. You can pre-order here or through the link below.
While currently on tour in Australia (see dates below), DARTZ have also announced a hometown show to celebrate the album’s release: at Wellington’s San Fran on Friday 1 March as well as gigs supporting Australia’s magnificent Private Function (see below).
