Taken from from his upcoming EP, out this Summer via Famm Records is the new track from Singer-Songwriter Maverick Sabre, called Don’t you know me by now.
Of the track Maverick says its is “…A song about the ending of a relationship, knowing it’s over but ending it completely being easier said than done. What attachments, dependencies, and feelings of obligations do we carry over from what we’ve been taught rather than what we learn? Are you in love/relationship for genuine love, or is it the settling to norms that haven’t been questioned?”
There’s a sadness in ‘Don’t you know by now”, as if the pain of a failing relationship weighs heavy. The funk stylings and prodding bassline of the accompaniment only add to the melancholy, as Maverick lays his cards on the table, his gravelly voice seeming the voice of reason, even if it’s bearing bad news.
