Track: Manchester’s The Be Positives run the retro chic on ‘Rain and Stormy Weather’

Taking their lead from the likes of The Band, Big Star, Kinks and Nick Lowe, Manchester’s The Be Positives – aka Mike Seal (Guitar, Piano & Vocals), Robert Hatton (Bass & Vocals), Simon Mayne (Lead Guitar & Vocals) and Callum Darley (Drums & Vocals) have just released a new single Rain and Stormy Weather, taken from their forthcoming second album ‘Everything About’, out in November via Think Like A Key Records.

Of the track, Robert from the band explains “This song kind of fell out of the sky. Normally it would be Mike who brings in the main idea and we all put the muscles on the bones, however this track was developed from a jam session into something much bigger. It was pure collaborative writing in the studio that we are all proud of”

There’s certainly something of the 1960’s/1970’s about it, with a bit of The La’s shuffle thrown in for good measure. Delicious melodies and earworm riffs are thrown about with abandoned, along with these occasional power pop stylings around the chorus that give the whole thing a bit of muscle.
