Things are happening in the Lianne La Havas camp. She’s announced a new self-titled album is coming out on July 17th via Warner’s, and she’s followed up a brilliant NPR Tiny Desk Concert at home she did with a new track – Paper Thin.
Steeped in (but not bound by) 90s R&B of the Destiny’s Child/Lauryn Hill sort of flavour, Paper Thin has this intimacy and beauty about it that La Havas seems to deal in, largely because of her vocals, wisps of which seem to infiltrate your conscious and just gently pull on your heartstrings. It’s accompanied by this jazzy guitar that sighs and soars throughout.
