Track: Leeds art rockers Mush release new single Dead Beat

After creating a stir with their debut album ‘3D Routine’, Leeds art rockers Mush have returned with a new single ‘Dead Beat’, taken from their upcoming 5 track 7” EP ‘Great Artisanal Formats’, out on 29th August (Record Store Day) on Memphis Industries.

The bands Dan Hyndman describes the track “Dead beat is one of our oldest songs. We toyed around with having it on 3D Routine but for some reason it felt more at home among the shorter, zanier tracks of the RSD release. I think when i wrote it i was still working in an office as a data monkey, it has that data driven angst to it. Thankfully those days are done.

Gloriouly wonky, as is the Mush way, guitar clash and throw their wiry chords on top of eachother, while the bassline strides it’s own funkier path. Over the top are the slacker vocals, barking out lines and orders, before things come together for some classic new wave goodness at the chorus.
