Australian rock legends, Motor Ace have released their first new track in 17 years, ‘Knock Knock’. Fans of the band, one of Australia’s biggest acts at the turn of the millennium, will be delighted to hear that Motor Ace will also be embarking on a nation-wide tour, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album ‘Five Star Laundry’.
Motor Ace worked alongside Five Star Laundry producer Craig Harnath (Hothouse Studios) and acclaimed producer and mixer Forrester Savall on ‘Knock Knock’. The new track also features a guest vocal appearance from Icehouse’s Paul Gildea.
‘Knock Knock’ sees Motor Ace at their melodic, grungey best. Featuring some hook-filled guitar work and a driving beat, the new track is sure to become a fan favourite. The song was actually written way back in the early 2000s, but the band felt that it did not fit on either ‘Five Star Laundry’ or ‘Shoot This’, so it has remained in limbo until now.
‘It’s an idea that was kicking around back in the day, but we never got around to finishing it. We’d always loved the sound, but it was written between the first and second records and didn’t really fit with what we were aiming for on the second. Probably should have finished it then!’.

‘Knock Knock’ is accompanied by a new video, which gives fans a rare insight into Motor Ace’s 2019 Five Star Reunion Tour, featuring backstage footage of the band preparing for shows as well as images from the gigs themselves. The video is the work of Matt Jasper.
