Taken from their debut album The Return last month, London trio Kamaal Williams have released a track from the record in the shape of ‘High Roller’. The trio, Kamaal Williams himself on keys, joined by Pete Martin on bass and McKnasty on drums, have just returned from a string of sold out shows across Europe, and it’s easy to see why with the new track
Dropping over this busy hip-hop backing are Lonnie Liston Smith like funk organ grooves, bubbling bassline adding some drive to the laid back groove. The added strings that arch over the top give it this little air of space and the gospel vibe of Kamasi Washington as it wraps its warm licks around you. And that’s got to be good, right?
