Berlin-based Finnish artist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Jonsjooel has unveiled the delicate, emotive and cinematicsingle, ‘Goodbye Ah’, from his forthcoming EP, Voices Of A First Day.
Releasedvia Kieku Records, the new single showcases a Sujan Stevens-esque musical approach, built around emotion driven songwriting and some wonderfully constructed instrumentation. Jonsjooel’s background as a jazz musician enriches his expansive and experimental soundscapes giving his music a depth in it’s rich, restrained yet complex musicality.
Through warming piano, melancholic, fragile falsetto and layers of atmospherics, warming bass and understated drums, ‘Goodbye Ah’ is a vibrant and moving example of this. As comparable to Radiohead as it is RHODES, the single is at once challenging whilst keeping a melancholic, heartfelt beauty through its cinematic soundscaping.
Speaking about the single, Jonsjooel explains: “Goodbye Ah is a reflection of my belief in signs. Sometimes they appear as omens, intuition, or whatever we want to call them. And if we cherish our sensitivity, we can see so much more.”
