Track: Jack Hyphen Shares Breezy New Single ‘Not Medicinal’

Emerging Manchester indie up-and-comer Jack Hyphen returns with the vibrant, breezy new single ‘Not Medicinal’. Having established himself as an up and comer with captivating live shows around Manchester, Jack continues to exhibit the intricate songwriting and radiant musicianship that have garnered him a dedicated fanbase.

Jack Hyphen’s journey began with the breakup of Herefordshire indie/rock band Point Zero, where he served as the frontman. Post-Point Zero, Jack ventured into acoustic singles that highlighted his vocal and lyrical prowess. His transformation into a 4-piece alternative pop-rock outfit in mid-2019 added a punchy, atmospheric dimension to his music.

The new single ‘Not Medicinal’ exemplifies this evolution, featuring intricate interweaving guitar lines drenched in atmospheric modulation and reverb, gliding over punchy drums and driving bass. Jack’s emotive, understated vocal delivery tops the track, blending its energetic undercurrent with an ethereal edge to create a unique, accessible, yet thoughtful and delicate soundscape.

Talking about the track, Jack explains: “I am going back to my Alternative Rock roots with this song, written over five years ago but revamped as my style has developed. The song encapsulates the feeling of vividly overthinking, and I wrote this to remind myself that the illusions I create in my mind will fade away and are not a reflection of reality.”
