Pop riser Ines Rae returns with the emotive, vibrantly catchy new single’ her latest single, ‘Someone Else’s Heart’. Having gained supporters including BBC Radio 1’s Jodie Bryant, Ines has already started to make a big impression and also now been appointed as a celebrity Ambassador for NHS England, Rae is set for a big 2024 which will surely see her solidify her place as a rising star.
Offering a compelling bedroom pop soundscape, the track offers a relatable, heartfelt and confessional narrative the track. Ines shares: ”It’s really special to me because this song is about one of the people I love most in the world – and how it felt to watch him go through something so monumental and almost unfathomable to most people. It’s also a summary of my own feelings at a very challenging time in my life – and while sometimes I think it’s a moment I’d rather not dwell on too much – as time heals sometimes the memory of it start to fade – having the song means I’ll always have my own musical time capsule I guess.”
Built around a soundscape of strummed guitar lines, the track is given alternative-indie flavours under its commercial pop vocal lines. As the track grows a punching kick and layers of piano bass join the mix, building things towards the infectious chorus. The second verse introduces electronics and sparkling synths, keeping the track moving forward with a sense of driving purpose and emphasising the beautifully constructed melodies before reaching a climactic final chorus surrounded by arpeggiators.
Rae’s smokey lead vocals shine throughout ‘Someone Else’s Heart’, moving from the fragile verse to the soaring vocal lines of the chorus, the track showcases her uncanny ability to deliver captivating, honest emotion with every line. Comparable to Ellie Goulding’s debut album ‘Lights’, Ines Rae’s mix of organic instrumentation, atmospheric, creative electronics and commercial melodies showcases what a promising up and coming artist she is.
