00s San Diego post-hardcore legends Hot Snakes have released a rip-roaring new single, ‘Checkmate’, their first new material since their triumphant comeback album ‘Jericho Sirens’ (2018). The pacy track, which delivers in spades the rock ‘n’ roll-echoing post-hardcore the band’s fans have come to know and love, is accompanied by a visually arresting video which you can check out below.
In a statement, lead vocalist Rick Froberg described the single as “big, fatty content freshly extruded from the Hot Snakes sausage machine. Same ingredients, new flav.” It is unclear whether the single was culled from the further two albums’ worth of material the band claimed to have written and recorded in a statement accompanying ‘Jericho Sirens” release.
Limited 7″ vinyl copies of ‘Checkmate’ appear to have sold like hot cakes (pun intended) on Hot Snakes’ recent UK tour but you can purchase the track digitally here and pick up ‘Jericho Sirens’ on all formats here. Meanwhile, the band are getting ready to head out on tour across the US throughout February and March. Support for the band’s all-ages, pay-what-you-can Chicago show to benefit homeless charities comes from the always brilliant Pissed Jeans. Dates are as follows.
