Track: Herzog – Shadows

Herzog returns with the second month of their one song per month project, that will culminate in the release of the LP, Fiction Writer, next year via Exit Stencil Records. After releasing ‘I’m Being Replaced’ this month they share Shadows.

About the song Nick commented, “Song two is entitled ‘Shadows’. This song is about the years Tony worked at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, falling in love with every wallflower who came to a show (while, of course, never actually talking to any of them). It features pedal steel guitar by Stephen “Tebbs” Karney and crazy drums by Alec “Danger” Schumann. Notice the slight rhythmic nod to Led Zeppelin in the chorus.”

Its more laid back then ‘I’m Being Replaced’. Slightly distorted guitar and pop sounding lyrics make up this song. Which is turned up notch in the chorus. There’s a beautiful slide guitar interlude adding a dreamy sun glazed factor. A happy little tune from these power pop wonders.
