Track: Helsinki 5 Piece Drug Store Raid Share High-Octane The New Single ‘Vi Är Finnjävlar’

Helsinki 5-piece Drug Store Raid share the radiant and high octane new single ‘Vi Är Finnjävlar’.

Bringing a radiant post-punk flare with half spoken vocals, radiant bass and guitar riffs and splashes of brass. As comparable to the current array of post-punk bands bursting onto the scene as it is to the likes of Madness, the track is radiantly expressive and fun, capturing a infectious sense of energy that I’m sure characterises the bans live sound. The title, translating loosely to “we are Finnbastards”, serves as a reclamation of identity, underscoring themes of lonerism, societal pressure, and youth anxiety.

This track is the first from their highly anticipated debut album, Background Music For Family Arguments, set for release on November 15, 2024, via Kieku Records. The 12-track, 35-minute album promises a sonic journey, drawing influences from bands like Talking Heads, The Birthday Party, Swans, and even the pop queen Madonna. It merges nostalgia with innovation, tackling subjects such as mental health, fitting in, and the oddities of everyday fashion, all delivered with a clever balance of humor and rebellious energy.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2021, this five-piece band has been generating a buzz, renowned for their electrifying live performances and boundary-pushing sound. Their unique blend of punk, jazz-funk, new-wave, no-wave, pop, and indie-dance has earned them a growing cult following that craves their fresh, genre-defying music.

Drug Store Raid’s album launch will be celebrated with a release show on November 28, 2024, at Semifinal in Helsinki. Tickets are available here: https://www.tiketti.fi/drug-store-raid-levyjulkkarit-semifinal-helsinki-lippuja/101968
