Folk-punk troubadour Fraser Morgan’s new single ‘Ruminating’, released today. Coming just after Fraser’s 1000th live show to a sold-out crowd at Colchester Arts Centre, the single offers a taste of the upcoming EP I Hope You Can’t Relate via Sad Buds Records.
A raw and honest reflection on mental health, offering a glimpse into the deeply personal themes explored in his upcoming EP, Fraser bares his soul Ruminating, capturing the essence of overthinking and emotional turbulence. Musically, ‘Ruminating’ blends folk instrumentation with a punk edge, bridging a gap between traditional and modern sounds. Strummed acoustic guitars and a picked mandolin set the tone, with the track gradually building into a rousing full band sound with bass and live drums entering the fray.
Offering a driving and energetic backdrop to Fraser’s impassioned vocal delivery, the instrumentation leaves room for his voice to take centre stage, carrying both vulnerability and strength, making every lyricism hit harder as the song progresses.
Fraser explains the song’s origins:“‘Ruminating’ was born from late nights and quiet moments. It’s about those endless cycles of thought we can’t escape from—something I feel everyone goes through but never quite talks about.”
This personal revelation came after Fraser experienced a panic attack, which inspired him to reflect on his self-sabotaging habits. His hope is that the song provides solace for others going through similar struggles, while simultaneously shining a light on an often-unspoken topic.
The production, handled by Joel Scrimshaw and mastered by Black Cactus, ensures that every element of the song feels cohesive, with an emotional intensity that matches its message. The song feels cathartic, both for Fraser and the listener, as he channels personal pain into something universally relatable.
With a feverish fanbase already and hype building around his music, the new single offers an exciting taste of the upcoming full EP.
