Ochestral cult rockers Brighton’s Flip Top Head have shared their new single ‘I Can’t Wait Until I’m Old’. The track is the second teaser from the upcoming debut EP ‘Up Like A Weather Balloon’ due next month via cult indie label Blitzcat Records (C Turtle, PLAY DEAD).
Recorded with Theo Verney (Lime Garden, English Teacher, Egyptian Blue, Blood Wizard), and coming off the back of celebrated lead single ‘So Much For Mole Catching‘. The track serves up a double-edged reflection on the frivolities of childhood, as the band explain:
“I Can’t Wait Until I’m Old’ addresses the childlike feelings of wanting to grow up- juxtaposed with elderly outcomes such as shaking hands and back pockets brimming with shopping bags. When you’re young, you wish to be older; big enough to go on rides, old enough to stay up late and eat sweets whenever you like. ‘Cant Wait Until I’m Old’ asks the question: at what point does one stop wishing to be older?
It’s a blossoming mixture of mournful horns, trip-hop percussion, and a wandering bassline. It’s a folky, punky, pop blend of brilliance. The band captivates with a ‘what will they do next vibe’, and what they do is frankly stunning.
