Track: ‘Everything Changed’ – the mighty The Lovetones return with another jangly epic ahead of live gigs.

The Lovetones return after a three year absence with their new single ‘Everything Changed’ ahead of next month’s gigs in Sydney and Melbourne. Their signature crisp twelve string crunch carries the yearning tones of singer Mathew Tow in a track that seems to merge an REM melancholic blush with a Byrdsian jingle jangle and a Dylanesque burr.

The result is something quite euphoric, a sixties flavoured slice of yearning indie pop that is cinematic in its breadth and altogether quite immersive. Coasting on an ambulant bass, the production positively sparkles like rain drops in the sunlight:

Details of the tour are below with Sydney tickets available here and Melbourne tickets available here. Supports for the Sydney gigs include the brilliant Lewis Goldmark and fantastic The Wednesday Night – rare appearances for both bands.

In the meantime – read my interview with Matthew J Tow from a couple of years ago.
