Following the announcement of several UK headline tour dates capped off with an appearance at the Tim Burgess-curated stage at Kendal Calling Festival. Brighton’s ELLiS·D (Ellis Dickson) shares his new single titled ‘Carousel’.
With all parts written and recorded by Dickson himself at Hackney Road Studios with producer Shuta Shinoda (Hot Chip, Jenny Beth), ‘Carousel’ continues ELLiS·D’s streak of relentlessly wired, ‘on-edge’ rock, finely polluted with a worldly 21st century paranoia, as Dickson himself explains:
“‘Carousel’ is an attempt at mitigating the anxious, paranoid wreck that lives inside us and wants to spoil everything. A cathartic fuck you to the parading cowards ripping up the rulebook on human decency in front of our eyes and hiding behind their big red buttons.”
It is a skitty, nervous slice of genius pop with an infectious groove and a heart-grabbing, energetic vocal performance. It’s the madness of Syd Barret cloaked in 80’s pop but brought bang up to date with the incredible noise created by the Dickson. Meet your new favourite artist who just won’t stay still.
