Elkka (aka Emma Kirby), the London based producer, DJ and label boss, has just released a new single – Alexander, ahead of the release of her forthcoming EP Euphoric Melodies via Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint on May 21st.
Of the EP, Emma says, “it’s about looking back on and towards euphoric moments, exploring how they and where they come from. Quite simply, I wanted to dedicate something to Alex, my love, who has been by my side for nearly six years through euphoria, through heartbreak and everything in between. Without her, I probably wouldn’t be making the music I make right now”.
Built on hazy foundations, Alexandra pops and weaves, the pads and grooves bleeding tin to eachother as it slowly builds, before changing tack and rising synth lines and snatches of vocal take the listener off in another beat laden direction. Never far from the dancefloor, its engaging, creative, melodic stuff. Check it out, here
“Euphoric Melodies” is out on the 21st May via Technicolour, with new single ‘Alexandra’ out now.
